Cassava Plant – Gallon
Cassava, also known as pia here in hawai`i is a woody shrub extensively cultivated as an annual crop in tropical regions for its edible, starchy, tuberous root. Cassava is predominantly consumed in boiled form as a major source of carbohydrates, but substantial quantities are sometimes used to extract cassava starch – tapioca. Pia is one of the most drought-tolerant crops, capable of growing on marginal soils.
