In 2022, Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi saw substantial financial growth, primarily driven by successful fundraising efforts, enhanced community support, and larger government grants. This financial influx significantly increased the organization’s revenue and cash reserves, enabling it to expand its programs and services effectively.
Key Areas of Program Growth:
1. Agricultural Initiatives:

- The increased funding allowed Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi to expand its ahupua’a programs, including the restoration and cultivation of traditional Hawaiian crops.
2. Educational Outreach:

- With additional financial resources, Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi expanded its educational initiatives, providing more workshops and training sessions focused on traditional farming practices, sustainability, and cultural preservation. This enabled the organization to engage a larger number of community members, particularly students and young adults.
3. Community Engagement:

- The organization increased its community engagement efforts, organizing more events, volunteer opportunities, and cultural activities. These activities aimed to strengthen community ties and foster a deeper connection to Hawaiian cultural heritage and environmental stewardship.
